Energy Efficiency at Chambar Sugar Mills through Turbine Technology

Chambar Sugar Mills, a prominent player in the sugar industry, commenced its operations in 2011. Located in Deh Chuch, Union Council Chambar 2, Taluka Chambar, District Tando Allayar, Sindh, the mill has made significant strides in energy efficiency through the implementation of advanced turbine technology. Acquired by Omni Group in May 2011, Chambar Sugar Mills was formerly known as Bachani Sugar Mills Ltd. The mill is strategically situated 14 km away from Tando Allayar Sugar Mills (Pvt.) Ltd., enhancing its logistical advantages.

Background and Equipment

The majority of the sugar processing equipment at Chambar Sugar Mills was procured from the renowned Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC). The facility is equipped with two boiler houses, a power house, a process house, and a mill house. Notably, the equipment for the power house was imported from Peter Brotherhood, England, while the turbines and refining machines were sourced from Broad Bent Centrifugal Machines, England.

Turbine Technology and Energy Efficiency

At the heart of Chambar Sugar Mills’ energy efficiency efforts is its cutting-edge turbine technology. Turbines play a crucial role in the sugar production process, converting thermal energy into mechanical energy, which is then used to power various stages of production. By utilizing high-efficiency turbines from Broad Bent Centrifugal Machines, the mill optimizes energy consumption, reduces waste, and lowers operational costs.

This technological advancement not only ensures the sustainability of the mill’s operations but also contributes to a significant reduction in its carbon footprint. The efficient use of turbines allows Chambar Sugar Mills to generate power internally, minimizing reliance on external energy sources and enhancing overall energy security.
