Originally named Bachani Sugar Mills Ltd., the mill was acquired by the Omni Group in May 2011, marking the beginning of a transformative journey. Situated just 14 kilometers from Tando Allayar Sugar Mills (Pvt.) Ltd., Chambar Sugar Mills stands as a beacon of progress and innovation in the sugar industry.

Commencement of Operations

The mill commenced operations in 2011, quickly establishing itself as a key player in the sugar industry. With a crushing capacity of 5,000 tons of cane per day (TCD), the mill produces white refined sugar, molasses, bagasse, and pressmud. These products not only serve domestic needs but also contribute significantly to the regional economy.

Acquisition and Equipment

The acquisition by Omni Group brought substantial investments and upgrades to the mill’s infrastructure. The majority of the sugar processing equipment was procured from Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC), a testament to the mill’s commitment to utilizing robust and reliable machinery. Key installations include two boiler houses, a power house, a process house, and a mill house. The power house equipment was imported from Peter Brotherhood, England, while turbines and refining machines were sourced from Broad Bent Centrifugal Machines, England. These upgrades have enabled Chambar Sugar Mills to enhance its operational efficiency and product quality.

Workforce and Community Impact

Employing over 725 individuals, Chambar Sugar Mills is a major employer in the region. The mill’s operations have spurred local economic development, providing jobs and supporting ancillary industries. The commitment to maintaining high-quality standards is evident in its production of R1 grade white refined sugar, which meets stringent market requirements.

Leadership and Shareholding

The mill’s leadership comprises Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majid and Mrs. Menahel Majid, who collectively hold 100% of the company’s shares. Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majid owns 6%, while Mrs. Menahel Majid holds the remaining 94%. Their strategic vision and dedication have been pivotal in steering Chambar Sugar Mills toward sustained growth and success.
